Sarnia Braves Tournament Rules
1. Home team will be decided by a coin toss. If a scorekeeper is not provided, then the home team will keep score and pitch count.
2. Games will be 7 innings except for the following;
• 10 run differential after 5 innings
• 15 run differential after 4 innings
• 18 run differential after 3 innings
• Ties will be played out. Each new inning will start with the last completed batter of the previous inning at second base
• A 7-inning game will be considered an official game after 4 innings of play or 3-1/2 innings if the home team is ahead. (OBA RP7.3 m)
3. Only wood or composite wood bats are allowed.
4. A designated hitter may be used for the pitcher.
5. A base runner that maliciously (intentional excessive force or intent to injure) runs into a fielder shall be declared out and automatically ejected. Further tournament eligibility will be determined by the convenor.
6. Pitching rules:
• Maximum number of pitches per day is 100. The pitcher may complete the batter.
• If a pitcher throws more than 75 pitches in a day, he cannot pitch in another game that day or the following day.
• In order to pitch 3 consecutive days a pitcher is limited to 30 pitches on day 1, 30 pitches day 2 and 50 pitches day 3.
7. Round Robin Tie Breaking Rules as per SECTION RP7.3 of the OBA Constitution:
i. Teams with a forfeit loss are ineligible for tiebreakers
ii. head to head record among tied teams;
iii. team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games among tied teams;
iv. team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games; v. team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games among tied teams;
vi. team with the highest runs for ratio ( runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games;
vii. coin toss
8. If the tournament is cancelled prior to any games being played a full refund will be given. If some games have been played refund will be on a pro rata basis.
