Alex McLean Throws No-Hitter, Brigade Defeats Lakeside
The Sarnia Brigade offense got behind a no-hit performance from Alex McLean in defeating the Lakeside Tigers 10-0 at Pulham Field in London last night.
McLean threw 95 pitches on his way to the no-no, striking out five. Credit goes to catcher Quinton Johnston who called an excellent game.
Sarnia scored four runs in the top of the 1st as Tristan Buntrock, Nick Baljeu and McLean all singled before a 2-run double by Jack Symington. Eric Steeves would pick up an RBI in the inning as well as he connected for one of his three hits on the night.
The Brigade would tack on five more runs in the fifth as Logan Klompstra and Johnston each scored their first career runs with the team. Buntrock, Baljeu and McLean all would score again. Johnston had the big hit of the inning with a 2-run double.
The offense was quiet until the top of the seventh. Johnston hit a tough chopper towards third with Symington on second base. Symington rounded third hard and would score on a late throw to first base to tally Sarnia's last run and Johnston's third RBI of the game.
Sarnia returns to action in their home opener on Wednesday as London comes to town.
Game time is 7:30pm.
