Rookie Select, 2019 (Sarnia Brigade Minor Baseball Association)

The Sarnia Braves Rookie Select Team were Finalists in the River League “A” Championships this past weekend. They had a strong season with 14 wins against only 1 loss in league play and had a great final tournament in Alvinston coming up short 12-10 in an exciting final game vs. Dover Centre. The Team congratulates Dover Centre on their great season and their undefeated record.

Reminder that we have our picture night on Tuesday May 28th at 7:00pm in the Clearwater Lower Hall. Please try and be there for 6:45pm. Players and Coaches will wear their full uniforms (jersey, new grey pants, new hats, red belt and red socks). If you’re missing anything or it hasn’t arrived following the uniform order, please let me know and we will find something for the player to wear for their pictures. The Rookie Select schedule has been posted on the Team website. There may be some adjustments through the season, but I’ll let you know as that occurs. Many of you have told me times when you are away, but now that we have a confirmed schedule, could you take a look and let me know the periods you plan to be away. The League Championship tournament has been set for the weekend of August 9th -11th, although I don’t know the location yet. There is potentially another tournament for the weekend of July 5th - 7th in Wallaceberg, but that is still to be confirmed.

Saturday is Community Field Clean Up Day, which the Braves are supporting this year. For those who are able, we will meet as a team at Tecumseh park (334 Russel St. S) for 10:00am, where we will clean the diamond and surrounding area. Following the clean-up, there is a complimentary BBQ lunch at Canatara Park sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton from 12:00pm - 12:30pm. We will be supplied gloves and garbage bags, but consider bringing your own gloves, as I’m not sure how many there will be or how good they are. Registration night is scheduled for May 1st from 6:00pm - 9:00pm in the Clearwater Arena Lower Hall. Please bring the following items: - Registration form, which I will hand out closer to the date and is also available on the website - Copy of Player's Birth Certificate - $200 cheque for Cash Calendars; may postdate to June 1st - $400 cheque for Volunteer Hours; may postdate to September 1st The cash calendars and volunteer hour payments are on a per family basis, if you have multiple children in the Braves organization.
