10U - 2021 Tryouts
I'd like to start by thanking you for your interest in our program. We are committed to helping your child improve his skills and increase his love of the game. Baseball Ontario mandates that coaches follow specific training in order to equip them with the newest techniques and information possible. The 2020 season did not make it easy for us, but we hope that 2021 allows the boys to get back on the diamond playing the game.

Tryouts will be held on Mondays and Thursdays allowing us to enjoy the few final warm weekends with our families. Coaches will be looking at players on-field skills (throwing, hitting, catching, running) as well as their coachability, effort and attitude.

PLEASE NOTE, the earlier start time to try and compensate for the earlier sunset
.
I try to be as respectful of time as I can. I attempt to begin warm-ups promptly at 5:30 and have the kids ready to leave the field at 7:00. On Thursday, kids will go through warmups, throwing drills, and various stations. Please ensure that all players are wearing a jock, pants, cleats, and bring their own helmet and glove. If they have a bat, I strongly suggest they bring one. If they do not, we have sanitizer available to clean one if needed.

Upon arrival, every player is assigned an eight-foot section of fence where they can place their bag, glove, and water. Between drills, we allow for them to rehydrate but insist that they sanitize before doing so. Players are expected to respect distancing norms and should at all times keep 2 metres from teammates. Players who must be repeatedly warned about this will be asked to leave the field immediately.

All attendees (players and parents) MUST check in with the On Deck app from Baseball Ontario. If you are unable to do so, you must approach our team manager so she can note your information for contact tracing purposes (mandated by Baseball Ontario).

All players must have completed the City of Sarnia COVID Forms as well as the Baseball Ontario Forms. If you participated in the Summer Camp sessions, you have already completed these forms and do not have to do so again. If you have not completed these forms, please do so and send a copy to both myself and our manager, Kari Sulaiman: [email protected].

Players are going to be taking a MAJOR leap next year with the addition of pitching and catching and the ability to steal bases on passed balls. All players will be expected to pitch as we will have some tight pitch count rules that we must adhere to.

I honestly have no idea what the return to school will look like, what winter will bring. We will take it practice to practice for the moment.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate.
